CSA – Creatively Bring Seasonality To The Kitchen

Food sourcing

I was blessed by an unexpected gift the other day. A friend dropped off their weekly CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) distribution for the week, as they were leaving town, and couldn’t make use of the produce. CSAs allow farmers to sell to us directly. We pay them at the beginning of the season, and we pick up the (typically) weekly offerings, which range from produce to flowers, to meat and cheese.

Getting produce directly from the farm ensures higher nutrient density, as the food is close to the soil. Check out Jo Robinson’s Eat Wild, and learn about the importance of eating closer to the earth, especially for our health! It’s incredible!

Making use of a CSA share supports local farmers, and is so much fun! You never know exactly what you’re going to get in that surprise box. It allows for creativity and exploration, pushing your culinary boundaries. I invite you to dive into the journey! If nothing else, take a cruise through your local farmers market and try some new vegetables that you haven’t tried before, tasting everything along the way!!

Check out Local Harvest for more information, or to search for CSA possibilities for this season or next!
