What is Dance as Meditation?

Dance as Meditation is the exploration of dance as a mindfulness practice as we move, and focusing on sensation to consciously deepen our experience.

Coming into stillness and accessing primal energy through rhythm in a safe space will be the focus of our time together.

To access creativity, connecting with physical movement is integrative and supportive, no matter how you express your unique creativity.

We will go through various stages of practice during our 2-hour sessions each Saturday in February, from 2:45 PM to 4:45 PM:

  • Waking up the Physical Body and Breath (Body Awareness)

  • Connecting to Primal Rhythm

  • Entering Heart Space and Moving Energy

  • Creating from the Open Expanded Space

By the end of the 4 weeks, you will have tools to carry on your dance meditation practice at home, connecting to your own primal rhythm through breath and conscious presence.

No dance experience or SoulSweat experience is needed to attend this workshop, just a love of music and movement and a desire to explore within your internal rhythm and stirrings.

Practical details:

  • Dates: Saturdays in February 2/6, 2/13, 2/20, 2/27

  • Time: 2:45 PM -4:45 PM

  • Class level: All (no dance experience necessary)

  • Style: Meditative, free movement, exploratory

  • Location: Indoors, in-person only

  • Mask is required.

  • Class size: Class is capped at 10 dancers (if COVID level orange moves to level red, cap will decrease to 6)

  • Cost: Member Discount: $120, Non Members: $150
