Chef Maria's Favorites: Himalayan Pink Salt Ghee by 4th & Heart

You may be familiar with ghee (or clarified butter) and use it for all of its wonderful health benefits. Today I want to share one of my favorite ghees with you!

Ghee is a luscious, lactose-free alternative to regular butter. It has anti-inflammatory properties, supports the digestive tract, is gently detoxifying, and full of health-boosting vitamins and nutrients.

I love this particular ghee by 4th & Heart because it has a bit of salt. Salt opens the taste buds!

When transitioning to a Paleo or ketogenic diet, we may find we need more salt, as we can become dehydrated. Adding more salt to your diet counteracts symptoms of the keto flu, or lethargy, muscle cramps, and brain fog.

This ghee is delicious on baked yams, smashed parsnips, and perfect to finish a piece of baked fish or seared scallops. I also enjoy preparing a traditional beurre blanc (classic white wine butter sauce), but replacing the butter with the ghee.

One my favorite ways to incorporate this delicious ghee on the daily? Adding it to mate for a yummy, frothy drink!
